Some links on Steeped in Japan are affiliate links. If you click one and buy something, the shop pays us a small commission. You pay the same price either way — the commission comes out of the shop's side, never yours.

This disclosure follows the U.S. Federal Trade Commission's guidelines on endorsements (16 CFR Part 255). Any article that contains affiliate links also carries a disclosure notice of its own.

The rules we hold ourselves to

• Recommendations are never sold. No shop can pay to appear in an article, and no ranking is influenced by commission rates.
• Facts come first. Claims about steaming times, cultivars, and regions are checked against Japanese-language primary sources before anything is linked.
• If a product has a real weakness, we say so. A recommendation you can trust has to include the downsides.

Who we may earn from

Our affiliate partners are shops selling Japanese tea and teaware, including direct partnerships with specialty tea sellers and affiliate networks that represent them. This page will be updated as partnerships change.
